Olympic Conference Meet recap

The Olympic Conference Meet at Toms River saw many season best and lifetime best performances. The 4x800m relay team started the day off with a season best performance and a first place finish running 10:24.42. Freshman Jocelyn Kugler saw her first 800m of the season leading off in 2:35.3. She handed off to Brianna King 2:36.3 SB to Meghan Carroll 2:37.5 and then Jaden Sweely anchoring in 2:35.2 SB. In the 55m hurdle trials junior Kailyn Clark ran a lifetime best of 9.77 to finish 15th. Joynee Bowers and Jill Strauss both ran season best times in the 55m dash. The 1600m was pretty exciting. Senior Iris Archer was in the first heat and ran a lifetime pr of 6:32.80. Next up was Erin Jackson who ran 5:54.52 whcih was her first indoor mile debut and just 4 seconds off her outdoor pr. Freshman Nicole Clifford was in the last heat and finished 4th in the Conference division running a new lifetime best of 5:35.84. In the open 400m freshman Alison cooke ran under 70 seconds for the first time clocking 1:07.75 to place 17th. Sophomore Kayla McAdams finally over her sickness ran a season best time of 2:37.85 to place 9th in the 800m. The last open event was the 3200m which saw Kate Rathman make hre 3200 debut with a 3rd place finish clocking 11:33.19. ALyssa Blackmon ran a lifetime best and eclipsing 13 minutes for the first time. She finished in 12:36.13 placing 7th.

The Night ended with the 4x400m relay team running their fastest time of the season. Jocelyn Kugler 65.2, Brianna King 63.2, Meghan Carroll 65.0, and Jaden Sweely 64.9 combined to run 4:18.49 and place 5th.

It was certainly hard to pick an athlete of the meet for this one with so many lifetime bests, but Jaden Sweely ran a lifetime best splits in the 800 and followed that up with an indoor best in the 400.

With a week off we will now get ready for the STate Relay Championships this coming weekend.
