SJ Group 4 Sectionals

South Jersey Group 4 Sectionals was upon us and the girls certainly rose to the challenge before them. We went into Sectionals down one of our top distance runners, as Alyssa Suriano had sprained her ankle on ice a few weeks ago, but that didn't stop the girls from putting on our second best performance at Sectionals in school history.

The meet opened up with Savanah Human running 1:07.78, just off her lifetime best to place 31st. The 55m dash was next with all three girls running close to the pr's. Lanae Porter clocked 7.83 to finish 19th with Hayden Toscano running 7.85 to finish 20th, and then Savanah Human coming back from the 400 ran 8.005 to place 32nd. The 1600m brough in some big points with Maddie Meder running an indoor pr of 5:06.64 to place 3rd(#7 all time indoors), Erin Healy running her indoor pr of 5:10.87(#10 all time indoors) to place 4th and freshman Ava Guarini running a lifetime best of 5:32.38 to place 10th.

The 55m Hurdles were up next and Taylor Reddington fell a little short of her pr but still managed a solid effort running 10.37 to place 21st. the 800m girls got on the line next with Sofia Recinto negative splitting a 2:20.91 to place 2nd. Maddie Meder coming back from her 1600m placed 4th running 2:24.70. Gabby Urban was just off her pr running 2:32.58 to place 11th.

The 3200m took the stage next with Erin Healy running 11:18.80, just .78 off her indoor pr to place 4th. Maya Kumar ran a lifetime best at 11:31.92(#12 all time indoors) to place 7th and Ava Guarini also ran a lifetime best of 11:53.52(#19 all time indoors) to place 9th. As the 4x400m relay was getting ready to close out the meet on the track, the girls shot put was finishing up. Brooke Garrity threw 27-11.25 to place 13th. Salma Abdallah threw a lifetime best of 30-11.25 to place 7th and senior Addie Lore threw lifetime best of 34-10.25(#6 all time indoors) to place 2nd.

The meet ended with the 4x400m relay team coming in with a season best time of 4:15.44 that they ran at Liberty with Alyssa on the relay. We went into it with Emily Couture leading off followed by Maddie Meder, then Hayden Toscano and Sofia Recinto anchoring. Emily Couture got things started off right with an indoor lifetime split of 62.5 handing off to Maddie. Maddie ran a very solid leg 63.2. Hayden Toscano had a season best 400 of 66.66. She ran out of her shoes splitting 63.7 handing it over to Sofia who split 62.3. They posted a 4:11.68 to place 5th over all.

The team scored 37 points to place 2nd behind Kingsway marking our second best finish at Sectionals in school history. We have a solid group that advanced to the State Group 4 championship that takes place this coming Sunday.
