The outdoor season seems like it was getting started much the same way the indoor season began. The weather and meet postponement seemed to be making an already cramped season more cramped. This year we once again had dual meets, with the NJSIAA moving Sectionals the week before Memorial Day. Our first dual meet was against Lenape HS. The girls won 98-33. The team managed to win every event except the long jump and the 100m high hurdles.

Next up a few throwers traveled up to CBA for the Penn Qualifier meet. This was a great season opener for Addie Lore. She threw 111-2 to place 2nd. She also threw 96-2 to place 5th in the discus with Kamiyah Hickson throwing 88-2 to place 6th.

This headed us into our first Night Racer meet. The night of 32's This was our biggest turnout ever for this meet with 23 heats of 32''s. The girls put up some very impressive performances for their season opener. Everyone that ran ran a lifetime best , or the fastest they have ever run at the night of 32's. We had 6 girls under the 12 minute mark. Grace Wojciechowski and Maya Kumar both ran under 12 for the first time ever. Grace clocked an 11:37.67 and Maya ran 11:43.55. The next trio were all in the same heat. Alyssa Suriano in her first ever 3200 ran 10:59.99. That is #5 all time outdoors and the second fastest Junior time ever outdoors. Erin Healy stopped the clock at 11:07.10, This breaks Maddie Meder's freshman record and is #7 all time outdoors. Megan Niglio ran a lifetime best of 11:16.89. That is #9 all time outdoors and is the 5th fastest time run by a senior. Maddie Meder was in our last heat were she clocked an 11:22..37. That time is 5th fastest time on our junior list. Our Fast Times at Cherokee High meet which was scheduled for the following day unfortunately had to get cancelled.

The next week, we had two dual meets and then competed over in Philadelphia. First up was Cherry Hill East. Without contesting the 3200 or the long and triple jump, the team won 87-26. This marks the first time in program history that the team reached .500. The programs record now stands at 151-151-2 since the program started in 1979. The team won every event contested except both hurdles.

Two days following, we faced off against Eastern Regional. The girls beat Eastern 103-37. This marks the first time in program history that the program has had a winning record. now 152-151-2. Addie Lore continued her dominance in the throwing events sweeping the shot, disc and jav. Olivia Selverian won both the high jump and the long jump. Maddie Meder came away with wins in the 1600m and the 800m.

With seed marks being high on our list of things to do this season, we headed to the Penn Wood Rap Curry Invitational.

We had a lot of great things happen over in Philadelphia. Missing quite a few girls due to spring break, we did not have our full varsity squad with us. The 4x800m relay team of Grace Wojciechowski, Maya Kumar, Gabby Urban and Erin Healy ran 10:16.47 to take first place. In the open 800m, Sofia Recinto clocked a personal best in the opn running 2:21.47 to place 6th. In the 1600m Alyssa Suriano and Maddie Meder both ran great races. Alyssa Suriano ran a lifetime best of 5:07.41 to place 4th. Her time is #10 all time outdoors and is the 3rd fastest time ever run by a junior. Maddie Meder was right with her running 5:07.45 which is the 4th fastest time ever run by a junior. It is also her second fastest open 1600m ever. The 4x100m relay team ran 50.52 to place 8th. That was Rylan Cieslik leading off to Ajane Hill, Veronica Ashcraft, then to Morgan Shank on the anchor.

So this week we head into Penn Relays with the 4x800m relay and the 4x100m relay running Friday, and the 4x400m relay running Saturday. We also have some field event athletes heading over to the George Rowland Relays on Saturday. The following week we will end our dual meet season against Rancocas Valley on Monday with the South Jersey Elite meet Thursday and the the SJ Invitational on Saturday.
